We hope you are doing well, and staying safe. With heavy hearts, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Lankas 2020. This decision has been informed by many factors. While it seems possible that Lankas may be technically allowed under Phase 3 of Washington’s Safe Start Plan by late August, we still have deemed it necessary to cancel. Lankas is a family camp, and the safety of our close knit community is our primary concern. Covid-19 has impacted us all, has hurt fundraising, impaired planning, and we expect would dramatically lower attendance. The facility that hosts Lankas – the West Coast Latvian Education Center – has already canceled all other summer activities.
If you have already registered for Camp, your payment will be fully refunded. If you would like to refuse a refund and donate to next year’s camp, please contact us.
We would like to thank everyone involved in the planning and preparation for camp, and all the volunteers who have already contributed. We also would like to thank everyone who has donated and supported camp, everything you have done and given is greatly appreciated. We truly could not do this without you.
Lankas will return in 2021, and our story for 2020 is not over yet. In lieu of camp, we are planning other ways to give back to this camp that means so much to us all. Look for coming announcements soon.
We will deeply miss you this summer, and appreciate you understanding and support.
